Real men eat and eat and eat and eat! Right?
Between frozen dinners that have designated
larger man size portions to commercial
advertising that represents men being real
men only when they eat large amounts of
food, many men face breaking a tough social
attitude created by commercial advertising,
when they decide to eat less and lose
unhealthy excess weight.
When a woman is on a diet it is generally
accepted as a necessary and proper plan of
action. Who disagrees? In fact, for women it
can be more than discomforting when
everyone is in such unanimous agreement to
their weight loss plan! Commercial
advertising in fact fuels that push and the
acceptance to such an extreme that it has
helped create eating disorders in women.
But men face the opposite reality because
men are expected to eat, eat a lot and keep
on eating without end to the food faire. The
great majority of men don’t focus on male
fashion models to determine manliness and
advertisers know it. Instead, the focus for
men is a man eating and eating and eating.
Even recent articles written by these “real
men” have popped up on the internet as men
speak to men about forgetting about dieting
because they will lose their position as real
men if they do it.
But when it comes to reality what good is it for a commercially designed real
man to suffer the multitude of unhealthy results including heart conditions,
high blood pressure, diabetes, to name just a few. Will he still feel like a real
man when he suffers through conditions that sap strength, sap virility, sap
life?
A real man is not defined by the food consumption that he undertakes on a
regular basis. That philosophy, is simply the scheme of advertisers and
sometimes even other men, that feed men a way of life that is very unhealthy.
But they aren’t going to live that life they are just going to make their goal of
profits from the purchase of those extra large portioned more expensive
foods, or get loaded on the feeling of power in having controlled another
man’s thinking right down to how he lives his life!
The writing is on the wall for all men and women alike. Overeating and living
at an excess weight is harmful to your health. That isn’t a debatable fact it is
indisputable truth. Overeating, whether it be men or women, has a result that
is physiological harmful to the individual. Men do not have a protective manly
barrier to the unhealthful effects of existing with excess weight and thus they
should ignore the philosophy of manly thinking that causes such an
unhealthy result for the one life they have to live.
Being a real man does not mean you have to not care about yourself or be
brave and eat yourself to illness and it never did. For all the men that have
delayed losing their excess weight due to a misconception that doing so will
turn you into a wimp, know that losing that excess weight and getting fit in
reality means that you will be stronger, more virile and live healthier longer.
Forget about self interested companies and people who feed off others in an
unhealthy way for you. It’s tough to ignore all of that constant pressure, but
know that when you do take the stand to do the right thing for your health by
losing excess unhealthy weight, you will end up feeling like more of a man in
the end, not like less of man and that’s an indisputable fact!
